Snoogle

The Snoogle is a curved body pillow that aids in the comfort of pregnancy sleep. It looks like this:

I've had one for a few months, and it's ok. I sleep way better with it than without it. I think it could be a little fuller. I wonder if I could add stuffing to it... probably. Hubby refers to it as my "fort." I think he likes it though, because he leans up against it too sometimes. For as much room as it takes up, why not both enjoy, right?

Most nights, Daisy goes to bed before we do. She isn't allowed on the main couches anymore, only the one in our bedroom where she sleeps every night. I think she goes to bed early so she can be in the bed for a while before we make her move to her couch so we can get in bed. Last night was no exception. Only this time, she wasn't at the foot of the bed, but IN THE FORT!

She is using the belly wedge pillow as her pillow for her head! She's ridiculous! Then, as if that wasn't enough, Hubby decided to help her get even more comfy!

She stayed like that for another 45-ish minutes until we came to bed. I laughed so hard when I first found her in the fort. She's a funny dog.

Photo Bomb

I couldn't post the pictures from yesterday, so here they are!

27 weeks!

I made a changing pad cover to match the rest of the nursery.

I also made pieces to go on a generic mobile. It's a little wonky - the triangle piece is too lightweight. I will have to add something to made it a little heavier so it all levels out. Still matches though!

Finally, a double-sided flannel blanket. It's a nice big size to lay on the floor. I just love this fabric so much!

I did make another non-matching changing pad cover this morning. It is flannel and very cute fabric. It'll probably go on the downstairs changing pad. I need to go buy a new memory stick for my camera before I can take anymore pictures!

Bump Saturday - 27 Weeks!

I am 27 weeks today! 13 weeks to go. Time is moving so slowly! I know it'll all go too fast for me once Elliana is here, but I'm just so anxious to meet her. I have been in the sewing room ALL. DAY. LONG. I cranked out a double-sided flannel blanket that will be primarily for on the floor. It is 3-and-a-half feet squared. It wasn't hard and it didn't take long, but it's cute! I also made the pieces for the mobile. Unfortunately the mobile won't fit on the crib because the crib is too fancy and the wood is too wide. Hopefully Hubby will figure something out. Finally, I made one of the changing pad covers. I have pictures of all of it, really I do, but my memory stick is stuck in my camera! I can't get it out. The one weekend I'm home alone, and I need technology help. Tomorrow will have to be a photo bomb of all my projects and my bump. I did have my mom take a bump photo. I just can't post it. Sadness. So that is all.

Sewing Non-Nursery Items...

I am very aware of how much still needs completed for the nursery. But have you seen how many baby items are online with tutorials? Sew much to make, sew little time!

So anyway, I found THIS cute tutorial over at homemade by jill. They only take a yard of fabric to make 4, so for super cheap, I could make tons of burp cloths! And I did!

I made 8 for myself, and 8 to split up and send to 2 expecting friends. If they see the post before receiving their package, oh well. I was too excited that they were done to wait to post them!

The girly ones are all mine. I made 4 of each in 2 designs:

Aren't they fun? I love how they turned out! Here's a group shot of 4 - Daisy couldn't resist...

So then I also got to make boy ones. I was boycotting Joann's for a day (long story), and Hobby Lobby's selection of baby flannel was really weak. So I got the turtles and the green. Then I gave in and went to Joann's anyway, getting the fabric to make the other 4. Luckily they were out of the boy version of the fabric with the little hands and feet, otherwise I probably would've ended up making even more! I think that fabric is so sweet!

So that's my fun non-nursery sewing that I worked on the last couple evenings while watching TV. Hubby is out of town this weekend, and boy is my project list long. What else do I have to do, right? It's quite ambitious, to say the least, but I'm up for the challenge. I'm getting more and more lazy each day, so I need to hurry up and get this stuff done! Do you think Twix will take my Bump Saturday pic for me?

Bump Saturday - 26 Weeks!

Yep! Today I am 26 weeks along!

See my shirt? Isn't that cute? The iron-on didn't transfer so well... but when the t-shirt is $3 and the iron-on is less than that, plus I had some elastic laying around that I sewed into the sides.... It doesn't get much better!

Now to put my feet up! My ankles are quite puffy tonight!

Drumroll please....

I love, love, LOVE how this turned out! I love how incredibly soft it is! I love how warm it will be to cuddle under with Ellie! And I love the look of the pink fluffy trim around the front. I couldn't be happier with this!

And the winner is...

On Monday I went head-to-head with this guy:

It was my 1 hour Glucose tolerance test to check for Gestational Diabetes. My appointment wasn't until 4:30 PM and my instructions said not to fast, but to avoid excess sugar. Everything I read online said morning appointments were best, and that most doctors said to fast. Hmmm.... well, all I could do was avoid excess sugar and go to my afternoon appointment. I had to eat! I couldn't fast all day! I'm pregnant! So Tuesday morning I got a phone call. I FAILED! Now I had to do the 3 hour test. I was of course crushed! And positive I had Gestational Diabetes. What would I possibly eat now?!?! Coming up with dinner was hard enough without any limitations. I may or may not have had a meltdown about it... I admit to nothing. Anyway, I did the 3 hour test Friday morning. I had to use half of one of my extremely valuable sick days that I've been saving for October. That was worse than getting my blood drawn 4 times! By lunch time today I hadn't heard my results so I called to ask. They were NORMAL! Yay!

Glucola may have won the battle, but I won the war!

Bump Saturday... er, I mean Sunday? And the fur-kids

I know, I know, how hard is it to snap a picture? But yesterday was busy! We woke up early - pretty much as early as a normal workday - and went to the aquarium! It was really fun! We took our time and went slow, and not just because I move slower than ever, but Hubby likes to read all the interesting facts about the fishes. We saw pretty fish, creepy fish, Mighty Mike the famous alligator, otters, frogs, penguins, and sharks. Oh my gosh! The sharks were scary! There were people in wetsuits cleaning in the shark tank, and they were in pairs - one person cleaning and another person with a PVC pipe for protection. Every once in a while a smaller shark would get really close and the guy with the pipe would grab the girl's leg to alert her to stop moving. After this happened a few times, one of the really big sharks with lots of teeth hovered over them for a long time! I thought he might attack the pipe! The girl was just laying there with her head down, not moving, while the guy blocked her with the pipe. Once they shark left, the girl smiled and waved to the people watching. Scary! The penguins were really active and fun to watch. They were diving from rocks into the water and swimming super fast, zooming up out of the water, and turning at break-neck speeds! I could've watched them all day (probably because I was sitting down, too!).

After the aquarium, I took a quick nap and then we went to get the mower from our old house. After 5 months on the market, we are finally closing on it tomorrow! Yay! But we wouldn't have time to stop by and get it when to go to close, so we got it yesterday. Plus that meant dinner at one of our favorite restaurants that we don't have near us now. I'm soooo excited to finally sell the house! Going back to 1 mortgage payment is going to be awesome!

So yeah, yesterday was busy, and a picture didn't get snapped. That's ok, there isn't much change from last week. But here is 25 weeks (and 1 day)!!!

I thought I would also post pictures of the fur-kids. They are a big part of our lives, and I know at least one of them is very aware of Ellie. So here they are.

Twix is the oldest. She is 6 years old. She's very shy around strangers. She prefers me, but it is always on her terms. She likes to hang out with the family, but usually at a distance.

Next is Daisy. She is 5 years old. She is ridiculous and a great source of entertainment (or fury)! She's 60 pounds of pure muscle, meaning if she escapes, she runs really far, really fast, and doesn't look back.

And finally, Chief. He's 3 years old. He's a fatty. He loves to be a part of whatever anyone is doing.

Hope you enjoyed meeting the family!

Catching Up!

So I missed Bump Saturday due to having too much fun hanging out with my family! I got quite a bit of sun and spent some quality time in the pool. Luckily, everyone had their individual family picture taken after the group shot, so you get Hubby, ridiculous dog, and me, since it was actually taken on Bump Saturday! Also, I reached 24 weeks, which means viability! Yay! I feel so relieved to have made it to this milestone.

One fun piece of info… Ellie had the hiccups last night! I knew it could happen but often wondered how I would know that’s what was going on. She was active ALL DAY yesterday, and shortly after I got in bed to go to sleep, there was a different kind of nudging going on. After a few soft rhythmic bumps in the same exact spot, I realized it had to be hiccups! They only lasted for about 90 seconds. I love that I can finally feel her moving around!

Curtains, Quilt, and "Camping"

I’ve decided that even though the curtains did not come out like I had imagined, I am just going to leave them alone. They will serve their purpose whether I change them or not, and again, Ellie won’t care. Here is a picture of the curtains.

I had yesterday, July 4th, off work! I love having days off during the week – I don’t get very many of them! I have to save all of my sick days for Ellie and I don’t have any vacation time until April since I’m brand new at my job. So I goofed off a little. My mom and I had lunch together and then I started sewing the quilt squares together! I feel like I totally redeemed myself for the curtain mishap with how adorable this quilt is going to be! Since it isn’t fancy, just squares, I was able to get the entire front piece done!

The squares with the animals are flannel, the pink squares are super soft cuddle fabric, and the other three (dots and stripes) are just cotton. The back of the quilt will be the solid pink cuddle fabric. It’s a little big for a baby, but she won’t use it for a long time. Plus it’ll fit her bed once it becomes a toddler bed. I love it so much!

This weekend is my annual family camp-out. I won’t be sleeping in a tent. I have a hard enough time getting comfortable in my bed; I’m not going to try the ground! It gets really hot in the tent, too, and I don’t think I can deal with that.  It’ll be a whirlwind of a weekend, and so much fun! I love seeing my family.

I’ll be sure to post for Bump Saturday!

Curtains

Just in case you were waiting with bated breath for the curtains, I would just like to say this: I did complete the curtains on Sunday, but I feel they are a bit of a fail. I'm not pleased with them and need to come up with an idea of how to help them. For now, I am moving on with my nursery projects, and will deal with them later if there is time/interest. I know Ellie won't care, and not many other people will see them, so I may just say "forget it." We'll see what happens.
